Garage Sale
The garage sale was quite a success! I was shocked by how well we did, plus it was fun. Thank you Fumagallis and all those who helped out! I'll elaborate later, I need to run - heading up to WI for 4th of July weekend with the Jenkins!

Here we go again!
So here I am again. I haven't written in a year, but its time to open up the Israel/Palestine blog again. When I left a year ago I knew I would be returning to the Holy Lands someday, God willing, but I didn't know it would be so soon!
I hope some will find this blog interesting, as well as helpful in understanding some of the issues going on in Israel/Palestine and what I will be doing there. For those of you who don't already know, I am going to Shufat, a Palestinian town about ten minutes north of Jerusalem's Old City by bus. I will be teaching fourth grade at Jerusalem School.
I'm so excited to get my student's names. My mom and I went to The Chalkboard yesterday, a teaching store in Downers Grove. I bought those little name cards for the desks. I just love Arab names: Ibrahim, Amira, Jamal, Lydia, Nasir, Lelya, Ahmad. Aren't they beautiful?
Right now my biggest concern is finding a flight there. My parent's offered me their flyer miles to get a ticket, but unfortunately I can't buy a one-way and I do not know yet when I will be returning exactly. Plus, there's a maximum time I can schedule between the departure ticket and the return ticket, and right now the latest I could return is somewhere in May next year, but school doesn't get out until June. So I'm considering just buying my tickets and letting my parent's hold onto their miles (maybe they'll come visit!). This option would require me to first raise the funds for a one-way ticket to Tel Aviv. Tomorrow the girls I nanny for are going to have a garage sale and lemonaide stand, and all the proceeds will go to my trip. They're so great. Getting to Israel one cup of lemonaide at at time!
My second order of business is finishing my application for missions at my church and the church I grew up in. They're long applications, and unfortunately I don't have much time to spare between work and sleep! I'm sure I'll find some time soon though, maybe during this weekends trip to Lorin's lake house! I feel like its not 4th of July if your not watching fireworks over a lake in Wisconsin.
Well I'm nannying right now, and I think its time to show who's boss in Wii Mario Party. I'll try to keep this blog updated on my progress, although I can't promise I'll have anything terribly interesting to post about before I head out!
I found this website with a whole lot of info on Shu'fat. I haven't even read it all yet, but its probably politically loaded. Take a look, this is where I'm going to live!
